URMANT is an enhanced web utility designed to streamline the process of compiling professional and UCAS references for sixth form and college students from a series of subject, departmental or personal references.

URMANT was designed out of need for a system which was able to store Subject References for a student then allow them to be easily aggregated into – and stored as – a UCAS or Professional Reference – whilst allowing administrators to monitor and oversee this process. As well as managing the creation of references URMANT is able to track the progress of a student’s UCAS Application; alerting department members, tutors and administrators when action needs to be taken.

In most applications URMANT replaces an ad-hoc and labourious paper-pased system, or at best an in-house database with a limited featureset. With a user-friendly and entirely web-based interface, innovative features and a design based upon real case studies and user needs; URMANT is a truely unique product which no further education centre should be without.

“It makes that frantic time of year so much easier”
Mrs Emma Horstrup – Assistant Head & Head of Sixth Form

In More Depth…

The URMANT workflow is built around, but not limited to, the process of applying to UCAS. The student takes the first action and triggers the process by starting their UCAS application. By the use of a unique code the student can inform the URMANT system that they have started their online UCAS application, or alternatively this task can be performed by administritive staff.

Subject teachers are able to enter subject references for students, this makes that information available to the person responsible for writing the final UCAS or professional reference. Along with their reference the system also stores (and can import from your own systems) basic student information as well as their enrolement and subject grades, to provide as much relevant information as possible to the reference-writers.

References are stored in a central database, accessible via a web interface that allows staff to access the system from within school, at home, or indeed at any location with an internet connection. Once in the system; the references are securely stored, accessible by other staff members, and automatically archived each year, to allow staff to recall previous year’s data in the case of providing professional references for ex-students.

In addition to this, URMANT provides easy overview screens, allowing relevant staff to access information such as what students have submitted their UCAS applications, what subject references have not yet been written, and what students have not yet had a UCAS reference written for them.
